Chapter I: The Girl

Azel scratched his spiky blonde hair, what a mess he had gotten himself into this time. He was surrounded by a mass of fifteen or twenty zombies, in a dimly lit forest. The sun was going down and casted a shadow over Azel's piercing red eyes. He flicked at his pointy ears and thought for a moment.

"Wonderful idea Steve! Lets go out into the deepest part of The Forest of the Dead and hunt some zombies." Azel thought in his head.

"But zombies are dangerous and disgusting." Azel replied to the imaginary Steve inside his head.

"Yes, but you are a bloody demon! We are the dominate species in this world! And besides, zombie flesh sells at a high price down at that old alchemist store." Steve said countering Azel's annoyance at having to fight the zombies.

"I have a nice supply of Pal thank you very much!" Azel replied huffing.

"Yeah about that..." Steve said laughing. "I kind of took your Pal while you were out working and spent it at the pub. So, sorry about that, but you kind of need the flesh now anyways!" The zombies were drawing closer.

"We will have a talk about this later Steve." he said sighing.

Azel with great haste, ran to the zombie closest to his position and delivered a blow with his fist right into the zombie's face. Azel just stood there for a moment.

"Gross..." he muttered to himself. His fist had impaled the zombie's head. Green slime was trickling down Azel's arm. He pulled, his arm was stuck."Eh?" Azel muttered with annoyance as he pulled at his arm some more. The moaning from the zombies increased in volume as they drew closer and closer. "Ah...crap"Azel said as he placed his foot on the zombie's chest to increase the strength of his pulling. No use, his arm was not coming out.

Suddenly, one of the zombies had made his way towards Azel and was behind him. Out of instinct, Azel swung at the approaching zombie with the arm that was stuck in the head of his previous foe. The rag doll like zombie collided with the other zombie. The other zombie fell and snapped its neck, thus killing it. "Woo, zombie meat shield." Azel said grinning as he slammed the zombie attached to him into another foe.

A few minutes after the constant pummeling of zombies, the head of the zombie detatched from the body. Azel flicked the useless zombie head off of his hand.

"I think that should be enough zombie flesh" he said grinning. Azel made his way over to a zombie and squatted down next to it. He pulled a knife out of his back pocket. He started cutting and slicing off pieces of the zombies' skin. There was a rustle in the bushes about twenty feet away from where Azel was. "Hmm?" Aezl hummed as he walked over to where the bush was rusling to investigate. Azel peeked over the bush and saw something that filled his eyes with shock and horror. Over the bush there was a mob of about fifty zombies moaning and groaning.

Azel quietly got up and tip toed slowly away from the bush. Azel's foot came down upon a stick, snapping it in two. The sound echoed through the dead forest. Azel felt beads of sweat slide down the side of his head as he heard a chorus of moaning starting. He felt a cold dead hand on his shoulder followed shortly by a moaning that dug deep into his mind. He ran, he ran like a madman. Delirious and in a panic, he soon got lost in the maze of trees. He ran and ran, zombies were slow because of the decomposing muscle tissue, but Azel did not want to take any chances and kept running at full speed. He hated the disgusting creatures, they reek of a horrid stench and are always looking for fresh meat to eat. What he hated the most was that they used to be demons like him and he may have known them in their previous life.

He had ran into a rock. Azel rubbed the fresh blood off his new bloody nose. Frantically Azel looked around at his surroundings. He was surrounded on three sides by giant boulders. Quickly he looked towards the only free side, no luck. The zombies had already blocked off the only exit.

"Crap, crap, crap!" Azel said jumping up and down. He ran to one of the boulders and jumped on it. "Ha!" he said clinging to the rock. He slipped and fell on his head. Azel moaned and rubbed his head as he slowly sat up. A zombie was ten feet from him, he quickly jumped up. Five feet, Azel gritted his teeth. Three feet, Azel clenched his fist and reared it back. "I'll give you something to moan about you son of a..!"

Suddenly the forest was brightened by an unnatural blue light. Azel looked up, eyes wide and mouth open. It was a girl coming from the sky to the ground with increasing speed. Her hand was glowing blue.

"Take cover!" she yelled towards Azel. Azel still in a bit of a shock, nodded and jumped behind a rock. The girls' fist impacted with the ground in the middle of the mob of zombies. A blue light engulfed the zombies and the landscape. Azel was blinded by the light and had to close his eyes.

By the time Azel opened his eyes the zombies were gone. Azel made his way over to where the girl was; she was unconscious but ok. Azel noticed she was wearing a necklace. Curiously he looked at it, there was something written on it.

"Solas Project? Hmm, I wonder what that means." Azel asked himself

I love your details. I really like it so far, it kind of reminds me of I Am Legend. Well, the zombies do anyway.
